On the weekend 19-21 August 2022, the Pirates were at the scout farm “Tydal” in Tüdal (Eggebek) in Schleswig-Holstein.
The regional association Schleswig-Holstein of the Pirate Party had its general meeting there.
Likewise, the Young Pirates of Germany met there to hold their general meeting.
This time, however, in addition to the Young Pirates Germany, members from all parts of Germany were invited, which again presented other challenges to the planning.
One must support its youth organization and in this course have given the LV Schleswig-Holstein its place for their first general assembly after the foundation.
There was a tent site and also some rooms in the main house on Tydal made available.
They could also use the large marquee, which was available as a meeting room, with all our technology, a wash-up as they say in the north.
Afterwards there were still some tips and tricks of the old hands at the campfire and beside the rich buffet also an online regulars’ table directly from the campfire place.

You can tell a society by the way it treats its children
“It’s not like it used to be…” – who hasn’t heard this phrase, usually from the mouths of adults, when talking about “today’s youth” whose behaviour or whose supposed political disinterest they can’t or won’t understand or comprehend.
Besides, there are very well political youth organizations that demand that the youth is an important factor for the structural changes of the state, political and social structures and therefore has to be involved in these changes accordingly.
The youth of the 1960s and 1970s were strongly influenced, for example, by the anti-Vietnam war movement or by the Cuban Revolution, events that undoubtedly contributed to their political-ideological radicalization and resulted in an increased political involvement of the youth of the time.
Another factor that influenced the political mood of the youth at that time was the fact that the welfare state at that time was not as decayed as it is today. As a result, there was more room for young people to deal with themselves and their peers. This gave rise to youth subcultures, youth participated in the forefront, in the social mobilizations against authoritarianism and injustice, and in the attempt to change political realities.
It is therefore also time for party political or social organizations to recognize this changed reality and, if they are really interested in youth as the future of this country, to finally perceive them as real subjects of a process of change and not simply as “simple people going through a difficult stage of their lives.”
Next year we will come again to Tydal, we already have the first registrations, and we want to open up to more youth organizations to teach them the mechanisms of politics in a relaxed atmosphere, because you can recognize a society by how it treats its children.
